Day 22; 17th June - 439km - Niz Novogorod to Moscow

An uneventful day.  Travelled over busy roads mostly occupied by lorries.  We stayed in a huge monolithic Cosmos hotel on the outskirts of the city which we gave 0/10 for service.

Day 23; 18th June - Rest Day in Moscow

After making Mog comfortable with his usual service (of sorts!) we visited Red Square, the Kremlin and the GOM Department Store where Jon spent most of his time looking for a suitable fur hat for his Turkish fiancée.

Day 24; 19th June - 700km - Moscow to St Petersburg

Our only hazard on this run was the police checkpoint which relieved us of 1000 roubles!  Our apparent transgression was to overtake within 800 metres of the checkpoint!?! They demanded a backhander of 3000 roubles which we negotiated down to 1000 – only to be told later that we’d been done!  The going rate is to knock off a nought!
